Notes from the road…..

Been a while since my last posting here…and a lot of miles.  After the UK tour in June I came back to New York for a few weeks to work on the Rev. Gary Davis film documentary, played a real nice gig with Paul Geremia who I have not seen in years, and filmed a few more lessons for my upcoming online teaching site. Then headed out to Hungary for a wonderful workshop with Lasse Johannsen and Mike Dowling (the wine was pretty good also). Looks like this will be an annual event! Leaving today for Italy for a few weeks. So the beat goes on… So many great musical moments these past few months, and so many great people along the way…
Just wanted to give a nod to all the students who I worked with these past few months at the workshops in Germany, Austria, UK, Hungary, and Italy.  I learned as much as you hopefully did…

Interesting this experiment of a “road diary”…so many days pass with little time to write…Just played the last concert on tour last night I’m llandello, Wales. A perfect last concert – a beautiful venue and wonderful audience,  The whole tour has been great, playing new places and being back at some of my favorite ones. Many fun surprises along way. Seeing Paul Jones and doing his BBC show and them asking me to join him  at his Jazz Cafe show London was a treat. A great guy and a heuva harmonica player! Nice gig.  The three shows with my friend and great guitarist Gordon Giltrap were a pleasure. Gordon is an original and it was fun to stretch out on some duets. We are planning a tour next year…major thanks to Ron and Stuart for making the road so less hard… and just want yo say thanks to all who came out to the concerts- your support is what it’s all about….

Been busy the last week traveling through the sunshine ( and the rain), really enjoying all the concerts and seeing then sights as we go. Just arrived in Cambridge for tonights gig…. Was great to see my friend Gordon Giltrap and do the concert with him a few days ago. Look forward to two more dates with him and playing some music together…my good buddy Dave Keyes is on tour now and he will join me on the gig in Aldershot on the 22nd. Good timing! Dave is an incredible pianist, songwriter and singer that will just knock you out with his talent. We recently just recorded some tracks for the Rev.Davis Documentary “Harlem Street Singer”. It will be good to play them before a live audience…tomorrow is a day off to re- juice before last leg of then tour…See you at the bar…

Just made a change in the schedule…Paul Jones was kind enough to ask me to play at his “Paul Jones and Friends” gig at the Jazz Cafe in London. Looking forward to it, should be a fun evening.

Just arrived in the UK and settling in for a few days in London.
I came over a few days earlier for the BBC interview with Paul Jones for his show. Very enjoyable and fun. We even played a tune together- what a sensitive harmonica player (a good thing, as I mentioned to him). … A few days off before I head North for the first few gigs. I’m looking forward to see many friends along the road and seeing the sights as I go…hopefully see many of you soon…
