Roots and Beyond; Expanding your playing 

The Sunset Lake Retreats focuses on developing fingerstyle techniques and chord vocabulary through a variety of tunes from country blues, ragtime and jazz standards to originals. The goal of the class is to gain a pallet of musical tools including creating chord melodies, syncopated picking, understanding form and progressions, applying practical theory, and ways to create variations (improvising approaches).  The class focuses on understanding what you are playing and how to apply the ideas to various musical styles.  I'll be demonstrating and playing various roots styles and teach ways to learn directly off the original recordings.  Space is limited so there will be time for individual instruction as well as group sessions and informal solo playing. On Saturday evening we'll have an informal concert where everyone has a chance to perform. All materials including a master video of the weekend is included.
