Blues Roots;
The Guitar of Big Bill Broonzy and Blind Blake
October 11th, 2014
Brattleboro, Vermont
This session kicks off my new series of Guitar Seminars in the beautiful historic town of Brattleboro, Vermont. The “Blues Roots” seminars focus on practical approaches for developing fingerstyle technique and repertoire. I’ll be teaching the playing styles of Blind Blake and Big Bill Broonzy, two of the greatest ragtime and blues guitar masters. In addition to learning their sophisticated arrangements, the emphasis will be on understanding what you are playing and approaches to creating variations within a tune. I’ll break down the complexities into a “toolbox” of techniques including syncopated picking, playing with dynamics,ways to get the feel and groove of the music and understanding the logic of fret board. This is a workshop for guitarists who would like to get deeper into the playing of Blake and Broonzy and take their playing to the next level. Enrollment is limited. Please get in touch by email if you have any questions. Looking forward to meeting everyone. – Woody
