BLUES, JAZZ and AMERICAN ROOTS
Such an enjoyable concert when you visited Ripley Blues Club!
I am happy beyond words to have discovered Woody and his music recently. Thank you The Capitol, Horsham! What a gentleman and WHAT a guitar genius!! Have been eating up his music since seeing him play live – which I can only describe as a transcendental experience. I’ve always been a piano girl, but I was ‘flipped out’ to hear Woody play guitar. 🙂 Who knew there was such a thing as Italian blues? Have totally fallen in love with the tune ‘Lisboa’ which is a waltz that Woody wrote for the city of Lisbon in Portugal. It’s the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever heard and it speaks to my very soul.
Woody – the De La Warr Pavilion – an exquisite architectural icon of a building and centre for contemporary arts – is just down the road from Hastings, which is officially the most musically sophisticated town in the UK with a thriving folk, jazz and classical music scene, and would make a perfect stop on your next UK tour. 🙂
I think I might be hooked! 🙂 For me, there’s really nothing can trump being ‘rapt in the revery’ of a Woody Mann gig and I can’t wait to do it again.
HI Amanda, Just wanted tot thank you for your kind words and for the suggestion of the De La Warr Pavilion. It looks beautiful and a great. fit for what i do. I’ll check it out, thanks
I really enjoyed the concerts and the chance to meet up. Thanks so much again for your support and taking the time to write. It means a lot.
Thanks David, It was a great gig!
Miss hearing the real Mann. Could Andy Collins rediscover the South? Recommending workshop to a blues performer with a day job. Peace & love.
I hope they can tempt you back Woody!
Your shows at the National FF (Canberra) this Easter were a highlight .
Absolutely loved your show at Haverhill Arts on Wednesday,
it was a masterclass.
Sorry we (the audience) were so quiet, but we are british!
You deserved a much larger audience.
Saw the film at Stamford Theatre and would just like to say how well made we all thought it was. The way you concentrated on the music while weaving the Rev’s amazing life through the whole was seamless. But what makes the whole production is the love expressed by all those taking part. We all appreciated the wonderful quartet rendering of the songs – got to be a CD there! Plus, as ever, you gave us a concert to remember for a long, long time to come. I travelled down from Sheffield for the gig and I’ll be back for more. Thank you so much for the artistry and a wonderful movie.
